every time I see this section, I think of "the lake district".

Im sure its very different in lots of ways, wondered if there is any similarity between the two areas (apart from climate)

I've never been to England, but Lake Country, BC, is in the Okanagan Valley. It was incorporated 12 years ago, amalgamating four existing communities: Winfield, Okanagan Centre, Oyama, and Carr's Landing. Okanagan Centre and Carr's Landing are situated on the east bank of Okanagan Lake, Winfield is at the south end of Wood Lake, and Oyama is between Wood Lake and Kalamalka Lake. Hence the name: Lake Country.

Hi Jason

When we toured through England, we had the pleasure of staying in the Lake District. The area we stayed in reminded me of the Okanagan... maybe it was the shape of the mountains and having the lakes closeby, I don't know, but it did remind me of home a bit. Of course, the architecture in the area gives it in a different feel from here (can't say there are many hotels built in 1624 in BC, well alone Canada!)

When we are able to get across the pond again, I'd love to go back & explore the Lake District more.

2024 … still here adding info to benefit newcomers!

We love the Lake District in England (and the Highlands of Scotland, Siv~), think Lake Country, indeed much of the Okanagan and BC is similar, but more so. If that makes sense?
