For any of you horsey types out there - or those with horse mad kids, I can recommend the Wildhorse Mountain Ranch in Summerland.
Daughter was 9 years old at the time, and the owners let her feed the horses and took her out on several hacks for a couple of hours at a time. She was in heaven. They also do longer treks, and lessons. Saddles are Western or English. My husband hadn't ridden for years and couldn't walk for a week!

Food was great and the German owners very friendly, making us welcome in their lovely log home. We had our own suite and use of the hot tub with beautiful views across the valley. Lots of wildlife - great for a couple of days break.
