Sorry Jason! ... i don't know too much about Summerland, as i've only stopped there a couple of times in the past.

It's quite a small town in my opinion, couple of main streets, restaurants, stores etc, but like most of the Okanagan, I'm sure it's growing all the time.

Hopefully if we can catch up with a couple of members who live/or are moving to Summerland, they should be able to give you a much better idea on the area.

Ok, I am not from Summerland, but spent many day trips there as a kid, and in my past employment, went there every week at least a couple of times.

1) The people there are awesome! Very much small community minded, as in very friendly.

2) For banking, there are Royal Bank of Canada, (RBC) Canadian Imperial Bank of Canada, (CIBC) Valley First Credit Union...

3) Lots of little shops, and the town is "themed" Bavarian. It even has/had a town cryer, on Main St. in the summer months.

4) There are very nicely set up schools/playgrounds.

5)There is an Environmental Research Station just outside of city limits. (THAT was a blast as a kid, because we got to see all of the new grafting on fruit trees, roses, etc....seeing a rose with 5-6 different types of roses on one bush!!) COOL!

**If there is anything that you think I may be able to tell you, feel free to ask!

Cheers!

That would be Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC), Crash (I'm just giving Crash a hard time, Jason_B, she's a good egg.)

I don't live in Summerland (www.summerland.ca/) either, Jason_B, but to answer your question about how far from town, Penticton (population about 40,000 www.penticton.ca/) is the next largest town about 20 minutes to the south and Kelowna (population about 110,000 www.kelowna.ca/) is about 40 minutes to the north.

As Crash mentioned, Summerland has a small downtown so you don't have to leave town to buy everything. It actually is patterned after an old English theme with tudor-style façades.

Even though I got the Financial Institution's name wrong, he still speaks to me!! Even after meeting me in person...go figure!!

BTW HE was very correct & I was very wrong...sorry!

So much for "tidbits of info"...I suck at this. :(

Thank you LongInt!!

Just teasing you, Crash. Even the bank doesn't call itself by its full name anymore - just CIBC.

Hi jason,

We moved to Summerland back in June this year and we love it here.

We have two daughters who are 14 and 16 and have found there is lots for kids to do here and alot more going on than you think for such a small town. We have relatives here with smaller kids and they are very happy too.

If you have any further advice or questions send me a message and i will write you an email.

Tracy

Hi Tracy

Thanks for providing great reassurrance on the area for us. not sure exactly where we would head for if coming over to canada, just doing some very early research. people say KELOWNA is the place to go with a thriving community, but we would prefer to research surroundings areas 1st - providing they have a bit of everything for the average UK family. Its nice to have the stunning views, but you dont want to be cut off in the middle of nowehere.
