It's been a long time since we were at those trails... looks like we'll have to revisit the area soon.

Finally did the complete walk around Bear Creek as we had been meaning to for ages. What a lovely walk but i was certainly feeling it halfway up!!
Still didn't see any bears, in fact i don't think we saw any kind of wildlife whatsoever much to my sons dissapointment.
Afterwards as we headed back we turned off at Bear Lake road and headed right up to Bear Lake, a good 20 kilometres off road but it was worth it in my sons eyes as we found some snakes by the lake. He got hold of a large one first but before i could get my camera it had wriggled free so just got the baby.
(A garter snake i am told)

Nice shots, Nigel.
Yes, that's a garter snake; quite harmless.

The park is closed, but opposite the park are some nice walks up the hill, am I right in saying all the BEARS are sleeping by now?????
If I take the kids and dog for a walk up there today and don't come back......you all know where I was!

The best thing to do is carry a bell. That way all the bears will know where you are. (Just make sure it's not a dinner bell...could have the opposite effect!)

Re: Bear Creek Provincial Park
the trails through the canyon and up to the falls are superb
The last time I was there the trails were well groomed and the views of Bear Creek falls were worth the climb
