How/where to buy a House

Post by CaptainHero » Sat Mar 07, 2009 9:46 pm

Hi there,

Im thinking of moving to Kelowna next year. So I am trying to figure out what would be the best.
Build or Buy.
Right in Kelowna (should be very expensive I guess)
Or in a little nice Town close to it (bigger lot, more privacy, more nature)

Would be nice to get some advise from personal experience or just a suggestion.

I have found something interesting:

http://www.realtor.ca/propertyDetails.a ... Id=7558874" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

This might be the best way if I would decide to live there maybe 2-3 years, sell it then and buy me a real house.
This way I will know the city and rural area and can buy me the House I ever would like to have.

Do somebody know someone who did something like this or is it only for rich people who buys appartments like this to spent 3 weeks a year there on holidays.

Oh that apartment is very nice indeed - definitely furnished to my taste.

I would probably think that many people buy apartments only to rent them out in high season for the tourist. But remember there will probably be other charges on top of the mortgage for these apartments ie. service charges, condo fees. Not sure on the terminology but no doubt they will cost you several thousand per year on top. There is a lady on here called Brell who is a realtor. I am sure if you PM her she will be able to answer your questions in more detail.

That was my thinking too, that there will be more to pay for.
I will sent her a PM and see what she can tell me.
Thanks

HI... crusing thru and saw your posts.. so am having a look into this property.. First thought is that it could be a tourist commercial zoning which means that you can not live in the unit for more than 180 days per year.. but I will dig deeper and see what I can find out.

More later,

Ok.. here is the scoop...It is a fractional interest in the unit that is for sale....

"A12 usage - Dec 29-Jan 5, Mar 23-30, June 15-22, Sept 7-14, Nov 30-Dec 7. Can purchase B12, C12, and D 12 for additional consecutive weeks"

So not at all possible to live in as a residence without enormous expense!
