I came across this wonderful site a few days and wonder if anyone could help me with a question regarding my husbands employment prospects.
We are both permanent residents of Canada but are still currently in the UK putting things in place to move to Canada. We were looking at moving to the Vancouver area but have now seriously started to consider Kelowna. The only concern so far is work availability for my husband - he now works as a supervisor in the construction industry, having worked in the industry for over 25 years as a heavy equipment operator and all work relating to the ground such as pipe laying, concreting, slab laying, etc etc. He is also a qualified bricklayer.
Does anyone on this site know anyone who currently works in the construction industry in Kelowna that we would be able to talk to about my husbands job prospects in the area?
Hopefully someone can connect you with somebody in the industry, but in the meantime, please check out these links below, as they may give you a feel of job openings in Kelowna at the present time.

All the best.
Two companies that I thought of was Peter Bros Construction & PCL Construction. I did a search of PCL's website and saw this current opening, but also noticed that they indicate they are always looking for certain qualifications.

If you use the search function (located just below the logo) and enter contruction, you should come up with a fair amount of info that you might find helpful.
I came across this publication from CMHC (Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation) that notes the housing starts for the area surrounding Kelowna:

It's a bit of a dry read, but you might find it helpful.

I work for a general contractor in kelowna and we are looking for site supervisors. If you can email me your husbands cv I would be happy to take a look or advise on opportunities. I emigrated with my family to kelowna 3years ago and have'nt looked back! My Email is firstname.lastname@example.org.
Did your husband find in easy to get a job in construction, hope so. We have PR since July 2013 and are planning on moving over as soon as we have sold our house, hopingly at the beginning of next year. My partner does the same sort of work as your husband, road construction, paving, tarmacing, site forman, and has been driving heavy machinery for over 20 years. Do you know if there is work in Kelowna as I would not like him to travel to the north for work as we have two children and the idea of moving is to have a better family life. My partner has to have a CSCS card for all jobs to prove he is qualified to drive a JCB, not sure how to get this converted into Canadian ligo. Have you any ideas?
