hi thanks for the reply we are dealing with a canadian Co named Colin Singer who are canadain immigration lawyers who specialise in immigration law & citizenship, we have met up with them in the uk & they are in the process of completing reports on the area for us & then if we go ahead they arrange intervies for my husband - not a cheap option but we pay in instalments as the process continues.

As we all wait ... holding our breath...
There is a lot of building going on for sure. Noteably the major projects at the hospitals in Kelowna and Vernon. My son has a friend who just got his ticket - and it took him a bit to get hired on. He was told they had mountains of resumes... but then.. he is pretty new - and has virtually no work experience except that during his apprenticeship. He went north right after that - but hated camp "life" so that may have impacted. He is working now tho.

To work as an electrician over here you have to sit a challenge exam. The pass mark for this exam is 70%. This then allows you to work as an electrician for a company (but not self employed). After being employed by a company for a year, you can then go on and sit another exam which covers the legal issues, pulling permits etc. When you have passed this exam, then you are able to work for yourself.
Once you have passed the challenge exam and have the red seal in your hands, getting a job will be easy. Without the card saying you have passed, employers aren't interested, they just say come back when you have passed the exam.

Dont waste your money on a lawyer, it's not worth it. Do the paper work yourself and save thousands of pounds/dollars. Just ask a few people on this site who've done it themselves.
There are plenty of electrician jobs around once you pass your test.

I would agree with bleech we have used an immigration consultant and if we had known then what we know now we would have done it ourselves!!! It is working out for us so far but my advice to anyone is do it yourself!!! We could have saved a lot of money!

So you don't have to pay any fees to Canadian Immigration when you actually land and get your WP? And does the 2nd 1200 for the 2 week visit include flights and hotels etc?
