http://www.wellsgray.ca/

Beautiful place, 250 plus waterfalls, park's a fifth the size of Wales. Would recommend it.

I've never been to that park, although I've heard nothing but good things about it. Some of my former co-workers went every year, stayed in the campgrounds and were always impressed with their surroundings.

*goes to check out MK's link!* :)

2024 … still here adding info to benefit newcomers!

We stayed further south, near Dunns Lake on Halldane Lake at Alpine Meadows Resort. No direct walking from the resort as they are seeking permission at the moment to open up the trails, but a lovely resort in cabins with cooking facilities, communal BBQ areas, communal campfire area etc. Good campgrounds towards entrance to Wells Gray - Clearwater Valley Resort? Plus two good ranches near to the entrance to the park which looked great but didn't take dogs. Like the look of the Blue Grouse B&B and Wells Gray Ranch, both would've been fun with kids. Think you can camp at Wells Gray Ranch.

Thank you - would you happen to know how close Blue River is to Wells Gray?

I think Blue River is about 100km (60ish miles) north of Clearwater, the main town in the area. For info, there's a great grocery store in Clearwater with a fab deli and bakery. We wished we hadn't bothered taking any food with us. It was cheaper there, and fantastic choice.

There's a bear watching tour by boat, around an hour in length from Blue River. We couldn't go because we couldn't leave our puppy, but it looked great.

Not sure what's there, except things like white river rafting trips etc. Town only has a population of 425 so it's small, but there is a campground and plenty of activities around. Try the link below.

Great for kids is to take the free single car ferry across the Thompson River.

Siv - hope these pics are okay, bit of a faff for me to load them...hope they are within regs.
