Sahali is south of the downtown core and along the south shore of the Thompson River. It is the largest neighbourhood in Kamloops and is commonly divided into Lower Sahali (below/north of the highway) and Upper Sahali (above/south of the highway). It is bordered by South Kamloops and the Downtown district, Southgate and Dufferin to the west and Aberdeen to the south west. Lower Sahali is the portion of Sahali that falls below the #1 highway and Upper Sahali is above the #1 with the Highway 5A being the dividing line between Sahali and Aberdeen.

Due to its popularity, home prices in the Sahali area tend to be more expensive than other residential areas of Kamloops. Lower and Upper Sahali boast a number of parks and green spaces, including Albert McGowan Park at the top of Summit Drive, which has a very popular water park.

The Sahali area has everything close by - shopping, entertainment, schools and park land. This is why it is one of the most sought after regions of Kamloops.

Lower Sahali

You’ll find decent sized lots, large trees and beautiful views of the valley in Lower Sahali area of Kamloops. It is a popular residential family neighbourhood close to downtown, schools, amenities and the hospital. There are a variety of homes to choose from and although there are some new developments, primarily the homes in this area are older (approximately 20 years old). A large portion of Sahali has only a small elevation change from the valley bottom.

Beattie School of the Arts, Sa-Hali Secondary School and St. Ann’s Academy (a private catholic school located on Columbia Street) are located in Lower Sahali. Thompson Rivers University is just west of Lower Sahali - it is minutes by car and within walking distance.

Upper Sahali

Upper Sahali is mainly residential and has fewer businesses than Lower Sahali. Residential housing ranges from apartments to townhouses to single family homes. There is a mix of newer and older homes throughout this Kamloops neighbourhood. Coach Hills and Albert McGowan Park areas have newer homes than the surrounding area.

The lots in Upper Sahali are also a good size and have beautiful views. Some specific areas contain homes located on steep slopes resulting in little yard space. Retaining walls are commonplace due to the properties being constructed on the south slopes of the valley.

There are a number of elementary schools in Upper Sahali including McGowan Park Elementary, Summit Elementary and South Sahali Elementary (French Immersion).
