Access Okanagan is an adult (age 19+) interactive forum, and everyone who participates is "in it together" - please treat others with respect. Please be aware that the forums are English speaking only.
We ask that you do not create multiple usernames. However, if you have a legitimate reason to create a second username, please contact the administrators. Anyone found with multiple member names will have subsequent names deleted. We also
encourage our members not to share accounts, as it can create a misleading representation of the primary contact. If you must share an account, it's a necessary requirement to identify the author of the post.
We encourage members to place their location on their profile details, as it helps other members identify whether you are an established resident of the Okanagan, or that you are researching/relocating to the area. Your location should reflect the city/town you reside, not the neighbourhood in which you live. If you would like to clarify your neighbourhood, you can certainly do this in your signature.
Personal attacks will not be tolerated. If challenging others' points of view and opinions, please do so with respect ... without insult or personal attack. Anyone posting another members personal details without permission will be banned. Keep in mind, as Access Okanagan is a 'Multi-Cultural' forum, we ask that you respect other nationalities, as racial or politically charged comments will not be tolerated. Access Okanagan does not take any responsibility for members opinions, posting content etc, although we will take action where administrators deem inappropriate content may exist.
There may be places where sexually explicit, obscene or vulgar language, graphics or behaviour is appropriate, however, Access Okanagan is NOT one of them. Should anyone use inappropriate language, start a personal attack, or engage in hate speech, they will be barred from all further discussions. You will be contacted if your posts or signatures are offensive; non-compliance will result in your post or signature
being edited or removed. If you have been previously contacted by Admin or any or our Moderators regarding inappropriate conduct, you will not be given notice on any subsequent occurrences - your account will be suspended or banned without notice.
The following will also be removed:
- Links to adult content, pages with links to adult content
- Links or messages regarding hate sites
- Links to competitive sites
- Racism or gender biased comments
- Anything against the law is not allowed
- Posting Email excerpts or Private Messages of ANY type or length is not allowed. There are no exceptions to this rule.
- You cannot legally post entire articles or news in the forum without permission from the copyright holder. Even if you attribute the article correctly it is still copyright infringement. Minor fair use excerpts of less than one paragraph or 4 sentences may be used if the content is publicly available on the internet. All other forms of inserted content from press releases, newsletters, web pages, or any other copyrighted content placed into messages will be removed without exception. A link to the content is acceptable and appropriate, again, providing it's not leading to a competitive site.
- Avatars fall under the same rules as printed text and must comply with those guidelines. Avatars are not to contain nude body parts, sexually orientated or violent graphics. Avatars should not be used as an advertising medium.
- Please DO NOT post promotional URLs, or specifics that would lead people to your site.
Please do not use our forums as a venue for advertisements in any way. We will not accept registrations where the username reflects or contains a business name or product. Businesses mentioned in your signature or through a post will be removed. Should you wish to assist someone who has requested information, it will only be acceptable to offer details regarding your company through personal message, provided you maintain an ad with us at Access Okanagan. This website does not have sponsorship from any company or organization, and as such does not have any direct involvement with the businesses that may provide information on our forums.
Anyone who considers a posted message objectionable is encouraged to notify a moderator immediately.
If we determine that removal is necessary, we have the right to remove objectionable content, within a reasonable time frame.
Please note that messages received from Admin should not be ignored. If you choose not to respond, you could find your account suspended. Some words/terms are censored on the site and any attempts to work around them will result in suspension.
We reserve the right to read private messages or forum threads which originate from the website, in order to check compliance with the terms. This does not constitute monitoring of either private messages or threads. We will not be put on deemed notice of any content of such contribution as a result of this right.
We realize members of Access Okanagan may also be members of other forums, and as such, please do not try to degrade or discredit other forums, their administrators, moderators, or their members.
Discussions about moderator or administrator actions are welcome in email or local private messages, but should not be discussed in public forums. This is out of respect for the members, moderators and policy involved.
Access Okanagan Services, Administrators and Moderators will not accept any responsibility for posting content.
All content within the website and/or forum, is the property of Access Okanagan Services and should not be duplicated in any way, without expressed permission from the Webmasters.
ACCESS OKANAGAN - BUSINESS ADVERTISER'S RULES
We welcome members to purchase an ad on site if they have business related products/services to promote in our community.
Please be aware that if a member (or on behalf of another member) chooses to avoid payment of an ad by communicating business on the forum or through personal messages, their account will be suspended or terminated without notice.
The welcome newsletter that Access Okanagan Services sends to each new member will contain information directing them to business/member's ads. We are hopeful that this will help eliminate a deluge of PM's sent to new members advertising products and/or services. This practice is unacceptable and will result in suspension or banning of your account.
If you are advertising with Access Okanagan Services, you are only permitted to note your company name, website link and a slogan in your signature, however please do not provide company name or contact details including phone number as a post on the forums. Any contact information provided in a post will be removed.
