I'll suggest a scenic drive up Giant's Head Mountain. There are nice walking trails and picnic areas.

Re: Family Activities in Summerland
We drove up there earlier this year, STUNNING Views!!! (although I really felt for the jogger who we passed on the 4th corner on the way up!)
As far as family activities, I don't think there is very much to do in Summerland. There are a few minor local attractions, but walking and general tourist driving is your best bet, if you are into this type of thing?

Summerland's Fall Fair is this weekend, Saturday/Sunday 10am-4pm. I think this is their 106th year. Come by and see some good, old fashion, small town festivities! Of course, Critteraid will be there with a little table spotlighting the Critteraid Charity Shoppe and Janette is taking Padre to speak about Responsible Horsemanship at 11:15 on Saturday!
