Blasting at site of rockslide on Highway 97 near Summerland, BC

This section of Highway 97 was closed August 28, 2023 when a rockslide of approximately 3,000 cubic metres of material fell. The slide is located approximately 5 KM north of Summerland, between Callan Road and Okanagan Lake Provincial Park.

At the date of this post, drivers on the highway continue to experience scheduled road closures as more of the hillside is safely brought down.

Each time I think they must be getting close to finishing they blast another section. Expect even more traffic delays now that tourist season is here.
