So, how many newcomers to the valley have settled in Westside/Westbank? ... and how do you like the area in comparison to what you know of Kelowna?
What makes it unique, a preferred choice .. and a consideration for future new arrivals?

Well lets see, i don't know how many of us there are but obviously it's a great place to be because it's the home of the Westside Massive" and consideration is being given to renaming it "The Westend" as it's full of diamond geezers init?
But having said that we don't want it getting too crowded so any newcomers out there don't move here it's really horrible and full of wingeing brits and lawn nazis.

Hi everyone, it would be nice to find out why you all chose the area you live, was it down to schools or the area itself! was it because it was close to were you work or close to the city?
We are having trouble trying to work out were to settle in the Okanagan!

They didn't chose it as such, it was chosen for them as Kelowna wouldn't let them in
Westside's got a lot going for it, great school(s?!?), shopping, close to Kelowna, houses are less extortionately priced, including lake view properties, and as soon as that new bridge is opened up it'll 'hopefully' cut out most of the rush hour bridge mare.
Full of Brits though

Well i will try and answer from our experience.
When we landed in June 2007 all we knew was we wanted to live in the Okanagan. We had arranged accomodation for 3 weeks in Kelowna as a base but we were looking at areas as far north as Salmon Arm and south to Penticton. The accomodation happened to be on the Westside and we liked the area we were in and had heard that the school (there is only 1 secondary) was ok.
After much travelling around we began to realize that Kelowna is where we wanted to be but once we started house hunting we were looking at an area from Glenrosa to Lake Country and basically just let the agent show us whatever she had in our price range wherever it was.
We like the value for money you get in Glenrosa but felt it was a bit of a drive into Kelowna especially if our eldest needed to attend College. There are some nice views from up there but also some scruffy parts so it's a trade off.
We liked parts of the Upper Mission but the prices were/are crazy and it can get busy along Pandosy/Lakeshore.
Strangely enough we now live on the Westside about 5 minutes drive from where we stayed and we are very happy with what we have. We are on a ridge so we have views, we have a lot of new stores opening up over here including the new largest Walmart and we are actually closer to downtown Kelowna than we are to Westbank (in mileage anyway) and hopefully once the new bridge is finished the traffic will be a breeze.
Of course sods law says that once i started looking for a job the one that came up was in Kelowna but the commute is easy compared to UK standards
