I just set up my BC hydro account online and the only charge I received was $10 - I think if you phone them up and point it out then they will whack a charge on you.

They sent me through a form which we didn't get till a while after we moved in and it asked for previous utility references or payment of a deposit.
They did accept our references i had brought along from my UK utility suppliers so no deposit required in the end.
Teresan gas on the other hand refused point blank and insisted on a $400 deposit!!!!!!!!

I like the Shaw phone thingie!! Will have to look at that but my guess is that South Africa will not be included under the international calls section.

You're right, Einstein. Africa doesn't seem to be included in the 4 cents/minute long distance package. Calls to South Africa are 13 cents/minute, according to their website.

Calls to South Africa seem to be quite pricey though (not really, but compared to other countries). Looks like they're 12cents per min on Vonage.
