Help Required

Post by Diddy » Mon Aug 11, 2008 2:29 pm

I have secured a job in the Insurance Market so I can move from the UK to Canada.

To help me get the job, I need people willing to give me 5 mins of their time to answer some questions. I am not selling anything, just finding out if there is a market for me.

Please help me.

email *****@****insurance.co.uk

Thanks

Why don't you post your questions on here and then people can answer them. If there is anything they don't want displayed here, then they can e-mail the answers to you.

As Colsgirl mentioned, perhaps if you list some of your questions, we all may be able to assist you and your colleague. You may find that you will get more answers, as many people do not respond to random email requests due to spam (especially if the same post has been noted on other BC forums).

Feel free to ask your questions... a great group of people here who may be able to help.

Cheers

ok I am going to work out how to go about doing as suggested, the problem is they are all questions about life insurance, a basic market survey to find out if you own life insurance, so personal details will be required.

if anyone is able to help maybe they could Pm me and i can forward details via the pm, there are 15 questions to answer and some personal details IE occupation, name etc.

Hi there Diddy!

We are willing to help you if you have a genuine interest in our site, but we can not allow any type of soliciting, where surveys/questionnaires are the primary reason for your participation here.

I hope you understand our position.

Kind Regards,
Siv'

yes I understand your position, but the questionaire is not my main reason for being on the site, as I am hoping to move to the area next year, I was just after a little help to speed things up, but no worries.

Call me nosey but I'd be interested to see how you can get here by next year. For a work permit, the position you have been offered has to be validated by a government department and your potential employer has to provide proof that they have tried to recruit extensively from the Canadian workforce and could not find anyone suitably qualified for the job. The skilled worker route as everyone now knows is taking 4+ years and growing.

There are hundreds of companies here selling life assurance etc and a lot of this is done by referrals (the friend of a friend network is alive and well). I don't really understand why you would be gathering information for a company you aren't even contracted to. If the company is interested in market research should they not be getting someone who is qualified in Canada to do it. Financial matters are different over here, what things are called and how they work (things we knew in the UK because we grew up with them) are no longer relevant in our day to day life. We have to learn the Canadian way of doing things and I for one would be very wary buying a product or service from anyone who does not have their feet firmly into the Canadian way of doing things.

It is also interesting the e-mail address you use sharpinsurance.co.uk. If you look at the website www.****insurance.co.uk they sell car and home insurance, they do not sell life assurance. So I'd be intersted in how you will convince the CHC that you have such specialised knowledge in life assurance in the UK that can surpass any other salesman in Canada when the company you work for doesn't sell it.

Sorry if this sounds harsh but I'm telling it as I see it.
